The Company Lush
When I think about the company Lush, I question why aren't some other company's following their outstanding characteristics. In many ways this company has done some amazing things concerning the future of the earth and animals.
The History of Lush: This all natural company was started in the homes of Mark Constantine (Tricholgist) and Liz Weir (Beauty Therapist) in the 1970's. In the beginning, Lush was called Cosmetics-To-Go. It wasn't until 1995 when there was a campaign for customers to rename the company. One customer (that was unnamed) suggested Lush meaning fresh and green. Thinking it was perfect for their company, they picked it.
Recycling Program: Lush has a recycling program that reuses the plastic that makes there black pots. The black plastic pots can be taken back to any location. If you take back five pots, you then receive a free face mask of your choice. On lush's recycling program site, it states "When it comes to waste, less is more. We’re always striving to reduce our environmental impact while creating beautiful and innovative cosmetics and gifts." I agree with the way Lush looks at waste. Plastic waste has been pretty cruel to our planet. With a brand like Lush striving to reduce the impact of waste on earth gives those who care about the planet a sense of hope, because this impacts earth's environment greatly.
View on Animal Testing: The kind heart this company shows is truly outstanding. Lush doesn't only fight against animal testing. They demonstrate and attempt to prove to others that there are different ways to test ingredients, or a finished product, that does not involve animals. Lush's Policy on animal testing is "Lush do not test on animals, do not use materials that contain animal derivatives that are unsuitable for vegetarians and only buy raw materials from companies that are not involved in the use of, or commission the use of, animals for testing and have no plans to do so in the future. We believe that animal testing is not acceptable. We recognize that customer safety is of importance but that this can be assured without the use of animals."
Products: Everything from lush is hand made with only fresh, vegetarian ingredients. Lush products smell, feel and even look amazing. Lush is best known for there more natural scents, each product is crafted with scents you would find in nature. A few of Lush's best sellers became best sellers for a few reasons. Two reasons would be there smells and the way they leave your skin feeling. First is, Dream Cream a gentle cream that smooths your whole body, with the soothing scent of oat milk, lavender and chamomile. Second, Rose Jam, sweet rose scented bubbles that leaves your skin moisturized even out of the water. And third, Deep Sleep, a shower jelly with Lavender and chamomile oils with orange juice that will relax you.
